Apple iPod 2nd Gen (Touch Wheel) 5, 10, 20 GB Specs:
The Apple iPod (Second Generation - Touch Wheel) models are similar to the
original iPod, but include larger capacity hard drives, replace the "scroll wheel" (that physically turned) with a "touch sensitive scroll wheel" said to be more durable, add a cover to the Firewire port, have a hold switch encased in "clear" plastic rather than white, and include a wired remote control, thinner Firewire cable, and a carrying case.
In addition to new 10 GB and 20 GB models (with the features listed above), the iPod (Second Generation) also includes a re-issue of the original Mac-compatible 5 GB model -- which still retains the physical scroll wheel (M8513LL/B) -- as well as a Windows compatible 5 GB model (M8697LL/A) with a physical scroll wheel (for clarity, these also are documented with the original iPod, as they are physically identical).
The 5 GB, 10 GB, and 20 GB models are capable of holding 1000, 2000, and 4000 songs, respectively, in 160-Kbps MP3 format, and like the original iPod, include a high output amplifier (60-mW), a FireWire port, and a standard 3.5-mm headphone jack in an ultrasleek "iBook white" and stainless steel case with a 2-inch white backlit LCD display. Battery life is an estimated 10 hours.
